The Boston Celtics established their offensive and defensive dominance in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 on Tuesday night.
The Celtics took control of the game early, leading by 21 points at halftime. Jayson Tatum had a quiet night on the scoring end, but Kristaps Porzingis stepped up for the Mavericks, scoring 20 points.
The Celtics shot 16-of-42 from the three-point line, while the Mavericks made just 7-of-27. Boston's defense held Dallas to 38.1% shooting overall.
The Celtics' victory gives them a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday night in Boston.
